Synopsis

An eccentric Englishman accepts a challenge to circle the globe with unprecedented speed. Exotic locales, seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and comic relief provide a fantastic blend of adventure, entertainment, and suspense.

Children's Literature

This large format, hardcover version of the classic tale is quite reasonably priced. The story is shortened and the language updated somewhat, without losing the original flavor. The illustrations are serviceable but not outstanding - I had trouble identifying which figure was meant to be Philneas Fogg. Also, opportunity was lost to provide a little geography with the tale. This is a story that begs to be illustrated with maps.

About the Author, Jules Verne
