Description:This is a review of the latest findings in the area of genetic research of ADHD.
Purpose:The purpose to summarize the recent findings and lead future research about ADHD genetics. It also provides information about quantitative genetic research as well as DNA molecular studies.
Audience:The audience for this book is researchers, including genetic researchers. In addition, clinicians who work with children with ADHD may gain a biological view of this disorder.
Features:The book provides a summary of the most recent studies about ADHD genetics and covers genetic studies of such comorbid conditions as conduct disorder, learning disabilities, and Tourette syndrome. Rather than the clinical picture and treatment guidelines, the biological basis of the disorder is covered comprehensively in this book. The language is easy to understand. However, the text includes limited number of graphics or illustrations. There is a very helpful index at the end and an author index provides a very rich source of references. References are current.
Assessment:This review of biology and genetics of ADHD analyzes what is already known and provides a guide to future studies. It is a worthwhile contribution to the field.
