About the Author, Alan Jefferis

Alan Jefferis, who obtained his BS degree from San Diego State University in 1972, has been an instructor of drafting technology at Clackamas Community College, an Authorized AutoCAD Training Center, for over thirty-one years. Prior to that, Mr. Jefferis taught for four years at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon. His professional experience includes eight years of drafting for structural engineers and thirty years of residential designing. Currently, he is the owner of Residential Designs, as well as an Autodesk Developer Network member and a former member of the A.I.B.D. Mr. Jefferis is the co-author of numerous books from Delmar Cengage Learning, including RESIDENTIAL DESIGN, DRAFTING AND DETAILING, ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING AND DESIGN, COMMERCIAL DRAFTING AND DETAILING', AUTOCAD FOR ARCHITECTURE, and PRINT READING FOR ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION.

Mike Jones is CAD Systems Manager, Department Chairperson, and a CAD instructor at Clackamas Community College. Mike has introduced new users and experienced professionals alike to the commands and options of AutoCAD for 27 years. His training center experience is enhanced by more than two decades of professional drafting and CAD system management experience in industry.

Tereasa Jefferis, a graduate of Clackamas Community College and the Mechanical Systems Institute, has been an architectural drafter for 11 years. Tereasa has experience in architectural drafting, commercial plumbing drawings, and HVAC system design; she designed several of the homes shown in this text. Tereasa works as an independent contractor with structural engineering firms.
