Overview
Our 12th Edition of the Guide is unique-a book to help an employer control health, safety, and environmental problems in a shop environment. The Automotive Workplace Guide to EPA and OSHA is designed for the hazardous waste and safety concerns of automobile dealerships with repair facilities, car rental agencies, paint and body shops, and other automotive workplaces.
The Guide focuses on commonly violated federal and state environmental, health and safety, and hazardous waste laws. It lists the top 20 federal OSHA violations and it helps a company determine its generator status with EPA.
The Guide addresses OSHAs Hazard Communication Standard (Employee-Right-to-Know), which is the most commonly cited OSHA standard, and the standard for which employers pay the most in annual fines and penalties.
Updates and improvements in the Automotive Workplace Guide include:
- New EPA Form 8700-12, with instructions for its use
- New checklist of commonly required safety plans under OSHA
- New standardized hazardous waste manifest form, required after September 5, 2006
- Discussion of proposed revisions to the Toxics Release Inventory, Form R
- Amendments to the RCRA used oil management standard
The Automotive Workplace Guide to EPA and OSHA also discusses employee training, OSHA recordkeeping in light of HIPAA privacy concerns, EPA's electronic reporting and recordkeeping system, and includes addresses for federal and state environmental and safety agencies.
