Hudson (Unforgettable Canada) has amassed an entertaining jumble of facts behind several thousand band names from 30 countries. The names are organized into 28 idiosyncratic themes, like "Shock Your Mama" and "Rock & Role-Playing." However, for easier alphabetical location, they are also fully indexed. While consistently noting each band's hometown, bite-sized entries, sadly, follow no set format and only sporadically include critics' statements and band interview quotes. Often-but not always-do readers find band member names and name explanations. However, the book is richly illustrated with full-color vintage concert posters and album cover art.
