VOYA -
The Blood Moon ceremonies will soon begin. Vampire tribes have gathered in the woods in close proximity to the Helios-Ra Academy where Lucy has just begun her studies. Convenient? Yes, if you are a Hunter on the lookout for any and all vampire slaying opportunities. Not so convenient if you are caught in the middle of vampire--human relations, like Lucy. By day, she is honing her vampire-slaying skills. By night, she is managing her relationships with her new classmates, best friend, and boyfriend. The latter two both happen to be vampires. In the meantime, Solange, Lucy’s best friend, a newly changed vampire princess, is not acting like herself. Feeding off her boyfriend until he is close to death and attacking her best friend is not her usual behavior. Lucy and the Drakes have their work cut out for them. The fifth book in the Drake Chronicles starts off with the action-packed scenes and snarky dialogue readers of the series love. The plot is well paced, and the characters have an authenticity that will appeal to teen readers. There is plenty of angst, relationship drama, and betrayal to pull readers in. This volume, however, cannot stand alone in the series without previous knowledge of characters and events, and there is little recapping to fill readers in. Recommend this title to Drake Chronicles fans and readers who are looking for a new series that offers action, vampires, and witty but dark characters. Ages 11 to 18.Book Details
