Children's Literature - Joella Peterson

Bullet Trains is part of the "Now That's Fast!" series. This book explores the intricacies of the fastest trains in the world. At the beginning of this book, there is a graph that shows just how fast these bullet trains can go. These passenger trains are made so they can go about 165 miles per hour. The graph shows just how fast that is by comparing it to how fast other things go such as a horse or a bicycle (with speeds of about 30 and 15 miles per hour respectively). One great feature about these books is the beautiful color pictures on every page. It shows conductor at her controls, a window as you look out, and many various bullet trains blurred by the speed as they pass through various bits of country sideβ€”in front of mountains, the Eiffel Tower, and various train stations around the world. Any youngster who loves trainsβ€”but especially bullet trainsβ€”will eat this book up. The pages will be worn from the turning them to see all the great pictures, and the solid text that goes with it. Reviewer: Joella Peterson
