Synopsis
Computer-aided language learning (CALL) has become a fact of life but at the same time much more research is needed to find what works well for a variety of students and situations. Concentrating on what research is needed rather than on how to conduct research, the contributors of these 15 articles look at the criteria for effective research, sociocultural perspectives, interactionist SLA theory, metacognitive knowledge and strategies, systemic functional linguistics perspectives, authentic language in digital environments, visuality, design-based research, user-centered ergonomic approaches, and work toward a cartography of CALL.
