Synopsis

Cataclysmic variables (CVs) are useful to astronomers for the investigation of a number of important physical processes. The proceedings of the June 1994 conference present new observational and theoretical results on CVs, organized in eight sections: observational overview (classical novae/CVs); individual objects; thermonuclear runaways; spectral evolution of novae and problems in nebular physics; accretion induced phenomena; the role of magnetic fields; supersoft x- ray sources and their relation to CVs; and evolution and evolutionary links. No index. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
