Reviewer:Ashraf Bin Md Razi, MD(Northwestern Memorial Hospital)
Description:This comprehensive book covers topics important for understanding critical limb ischemia. The chapters are arranged so that the content flows well. The tables and images are presented well and depict the subject clearly. This is a valuable reference for day-to-day practice.
Purpose:The book addresses the challenges and new advances in the treatment of critical limb ischemia. Controversies and new horizons in management are presented well.
Audience:This is a valuable tool for clinicians and residents in practice. It's a bit too heavy for medical students, given all the controversies and recent advances discussed in this book. Practitioners with a vascular background will definitely benefit, while even general surgeons who want a quick reference may find this book useful in their practice.
Features:It covers all areas involved in managing critical limb ischemia without dwelling too much on controversial data or future advances. Endovascular therapy for critical limb ischemia is elaborated very well. The radiological images are well presented. Algorithms that would be very helpful for novice surgeons have not been included in this book (other than in the "below-the-knee" section).
Assessment:This is a quality reference for the intended audience. An updated edition should be published in the next two or three years to incorporate the new advances in this field that will come out in the near future from centers all over the world.
