Children's Literature -
Garden is filled with vibrant illustrations that entice finger-wiggling toddlers to explore this sturdy board book. Equipped with strategically placed finger holes, readers' fingers enliven the picture. In Garden, fingers create the flapping wings as a "bird flies", and animate other garden creatures: worms, spiders, caterpillars, etc. An egaging and interactive book for active toddlers. Also in the series is Seashore.Children's Literature -
Fingerwiggle Board Books come with cleverly designed holes that become openings for puppetry fun. Parent fingers will probably be primary puppets for very young babies, but it won't take long before little toddler fingers find their way into these enticing holes. Lacome's book brings garden creatures (butterfly, spider, worm, mouse and more) alive for babies in an imaginative way.School Library Journal
PreS-While the idea behind these board books with die-cut holes for toddlers' fingers to poke through is an appealing one, these titles are less than successful. There is little feeling of movement conveyed in the static, often garishly colored illustrations of animals, fish, and insects. Fingerwiggling through the holes against such artwork is not enough to carry the concept. Although the language is appropriate to the creatures depicted-bee buzzes, sea gull soars, and so forth-the books are additional at best.-Emily Kutler, Summit Free Public Library, NJBook Details
