Children's Literature

The first president of the United States has had much written about him. This biography is part of the Presidents and Their Times series and should be able to takes its place alongside others series biographies on the shelves of school libraries. Written for middle or junior high students, this might also be useful in senior high school for students whose reading levels are not quite at their grade levels. Dolan provides enough information about the man and his times to give young readers the facts they need for research projects. He also includes a timeline, a glossary, a list of resources for further information, a bibliography, and an index. While the design is predictable and the color reproduction rather blah, the print size is good with enough white space to be inviting. Reviewer: Leslie Greaves Radloff
