This biography is part of the Presidents and Their Times series and should be able to takes its place alongside others series biographies on the shelves of school libraries. Written for middle or junior high students, this might also be useful in senior high school for students whose reading levels are not quite at their grade levels. Dolan provides enough information about the man and his times to give young readers the facts they need for research projects. He also includes a timeline, a glossary, a list of resources for further information, a bibliography, and an index.
