Children's Literature

How do you celebrate your birthday? Is it with a cake? Candles? A party with fancy clothes? If any of these are part of your celebration, then it will be heartwarming to know that kids around the world have the same experience. Candles are put on a cake for the young boy in South Africa and also the one from New Zealand. A pink party dress that says "Birthday Girl" and a birthday hat are just the things in the USA and Peru. Cakes and candles do seem ubiquitous, appearing again in the photographs of kids in Mexico, Turkey, Canada, and the Philippines. However nothing can beat the picture on the back cover in which a two-year-old child from Mexico is indeed getting his first bite of a big chocolate cake. A simple, but very reassuring board book.
