Editorials

Reviewer: Christopher Widdick, PharmD Student(Temple University School of Pharmacy)
Description: This book focuses on the technical aspects of pharmacy, brilliantly depicting each area with step-by-step photos and captions.
Purpose: The purpose is to detail compounding pharmaceutics for prospective pharmacy technicians. Each area, from equipment used to the actual procedures, is defined in an understandable way. The book clearly and precisely achieves this goal.
Audience: Although the primary audience is prospective pharmacy technicians, I have found this book to be very helpful as a refresher.
Features: Everything from equipment and safety in the compounding setting to procedures/protocols of sterile, nonsterile, and extemporaneous compounding are covered and accompanied by well-done illustrations. Each lesson builds on the previous one, and at the end of each topic, the lesson is reinforced with a self-assessment quiz. The only shortcoming I found was the quality of the paper. In pharmacy practice, the references must endure a lot and I am skeptical that these thin pages would be able to do that.
Assessment: This book covers every topic that one needs to succeed in the technical aspects of pharmacy. The information is easy to understand and reinforced by step-by-step photos of procedures. Useful references are cited and the table of contents clearly lays out the lesson plans.

From the Publisher

I feel the author did a great job of covering all the topics related to law and ethics. I liked the approach that was taken and also the order in which the topics were listed. If published, I feel it will be a great asset to the law and ethics course. Sandi Tschritter, Spokane Community College
