Dworkin is a prominent and controversial feminist political theorist. This compilation of her writings from 1976 to 1987 contains speeches, literary criticism, and her testimony before the Attorney General's Commission on Pornography. Present throughout are the themes of women dominated and silenced by men, of anger and powerlessness in a male society, and of the danger of a doctrine of biological superiority. Dworkin's zealous opposition to pornography is well documented here, as are her problems in getting published because of her militant anti-male stance. There are definite notes of pride and self-pity in this book, but Dworkin's dedication to her cause cannot be questioned.
