Overview

Logic Programming enables computers to reason about precisely defined statements of logic. Soft computing is founded upon tolerance of imprecision, uncertainty and partial truth. The challenge now facing Artificial Intelligence communities is to produce systems exhibiting higher machine-IQ and using common sense reasoning, rather than purely logical deduction. This book draws together current research in these two fields. Different perspectives are presented, on how to combine soft computing's tolerance of imprecision with logic programming's power and semantics. The aim is to provide a way forward for the implementation of intelligent knowledge-based systems.
