Over the past thirty-five years, many a marble player has become a hobbyist, collecting the Indians, Aggies, and Steelies of their youth. This is the essential guide through the fascinating world of marbles. Every major category of marble is described. Included among these are hand-made marbles of glass, earthenware, minerals and other materials including steel; machine-made marbles with a list of their manufacturers; and contemporary hand-made glass marbles produced by artisans recapturing the old styles and creating new styles all their own. Within each category are to be found many wonderful and varied decorating techniques employed either deep within the marbles or on their outer surfaces.
