The Barnes & Noble Review
Need to understand the Internet's tools and opportunities from a business point of view? Chances are you've got no time for unnecessary complexity, and no tolerance for hype. MBA's Guide to the Internet gives you what you're looking for, and spares you the rest.

You'll start with "QuickPrimers" that give you specific skills for taking advantage of the Internet -- Web to email, newsgroups to streaming media. You've already learned some of this haphazardly; here's your chance to fill in the gaps -- and make yourself far more productive.

Learn how to make the most of "general purpose" tools like Google in business applications; get maximum value from fee-based services like D&B; and get free market insights at sites such as Hoover's Online. There's also a full chapter on useful government resources, from EDGAR and the Census through the underpublicized (but hugely useful) Government Printing Office Access Database. Finally, Part III walks you through a series of hands-on web projects, from publishing PowerPoints to the Web to building simple intranets, recruiting to email-based marketing.

This information was formerly scattered across a half dozen books, or more. Now you can get it in one -- fast and focused. (Bill Camarda)

Bill Camarda is a consultant and writer with nearly 20 years' experience in helping technology companies deploy and market advanced software, computing, and networking products and services. His 15 books include Special Edition Using Word 2000 and Upgrading & Fixing Networks For Dummiesยฎ, Second Edition.
