Children's Literature - Danielle Williams

Science is tricky, but it can also be fun. And unless you're a wiz at science, finding suitable science fair projects can be difficult. Tocci offers over a dozen science fair projects for children, along with numerous follow-up experiments, that help explain basic principles of science. Tips are provided at the beginning of the text for how to set up a display for the project, including how to set up a three-sided tabletop display and how to create graphs to display data and results. Each experiment begins with background information about the principles being studied through the experiment and an experimental question. A list of "necessary materials", the step-by-step procedure, and results comprise each experiment, along with admonition to never conduct any experiment without adult supervision. From a basic examination of the different states of matter to solar energy and a basic investigation of acids and bases, each experiment explains the basic fundamentals of the subject being discussed and helps children further understand how science works in everything around them. "Scientific American Science Fair Project" series.
