Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot

Dead bodies whether preserved on purpose or preserved accidentally provide information about individuals and a culture. For the Egyptians, mummification was an art and a serious religious practice. The afterlife was important and the Egyptians went to great lengths to prepare the way for their rulers and other nobles. But, the Egyptians were not the only ones to preserve bodies. Mummies have been found in Greenland, Papua New Guinea and the Canary Islands. Other bodies have been preserved due to freezing or internment in bogs. Lots of goulish details and illustrations should attract even the most reluncant reader, although the density and type size of the text may be challenging.
