Nellie McClung, living in the early 1900s and fighting for women's rights, is anything but typical. This historical novel gives the reader insight into the lives of several of the women involved in the nationwide fight for a woman's right to vote and own property. This story is told from Mrs. McClung's perspective as she attends meetings, raises her family and writes her stories. Adolescent female readers will enjoy this story of courage, creativity and independence, while learning some of the historical background of the social issues.
