Overview

Before diving into G.K. Chesterton's book, it is important to know that he was born in 1874, was raised in the Church of England, and converted to Roman Catholicism in his full maturity.

Such a conversion was controversial in the extreme, and Chesterton waved the flag of his religion in the face of a secular British press and public.

Although this is a work of theology, it is also, according to Chesterton, "unavoidably autobiographical." In his characteristically elegant and pithy prose, Chesterton resolves the myriad paradoxes of his belief and constructs a convincing credo that is cogently argued, persuasive and always amusing.
