School Library Journal

Gr 10 Up-A collection of articles on various topics of importance that occurred in the past decade. The introduction is devoted mainly to September 11th and terrorism. Other topics included are the Rodney King beating, gangsta rap, U.S. involvement in Bosnia and Somalia, cloning, and Enron. The authors of the articles range from Janet Reno explaining her decisions in the Waco incident to the father of a student who was present at the Columbine massacre to Al Gore with an excerpt from his concession speech in the 2000 election. Students should note the biases of the writers, as always, when using this primary-source material. The articles are well documented, with introductions that help capsulize the events. Students will find the chronology helpful, as well as the listing of further resources.-Lynn Evarts, Sauk Prairie High School, Prairie du Sac, WI Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
