PreS-Gr 2-Each book has two short stories with questions included to stimulate discussion. In Making Friends, Danny knocks down a wall of blocks that other children are building and walks away. An adult, presumably his teacher, approaches and asks if he wants to play with the others, and stays with him as he tells the group that he wants to join them. In Sharing, Sara and Ali are fighting over play dough. An adult encourages them to think of a solution, and he praises them when they decide to share. The simple, pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations emphasize that the children solve their own problems. A short synopsis of the intended lesson and a list of three more books on the topic conclude each volume. These series titles meet the need for short books that deal with etiquette. They might be used in conjunction with Aliki's Manners (Greenwillow, 1990) and Caralyn Buehner's It's a Spoon, Not a Shovel (Dial, 1995).-Sheilah Kosco, Rapides Parish Library, Alexandria, LA Copyright 2003 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
