Booknews

Emphasizing how soil's physical properties impact agriculture, natural resources, and the environment, this textbook for university students and reference for practitioners puts soil physics in inter- disciplinary and historical perspective prior to covering calculations of physical quantities, soil variables, the flow and transport of mass and energy, and soil/plant/water relations. Includes examples, sample problems, and reviews of relevant geostatistics, mathematics, and physics. The research interests of Scott (soil physics, U. of Arkansas, Fayetteville) include applications of geographical information systems. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
