Overview

There are currently very few books for OS/2 programmers, and even the documentation from IBM is limited. This book, and the companion disk, provide programmers with detailed techniques for creating effective TCP/IP applications for OS/2 using the C or C++ programming languages. Covers advanced aspects of OS/2 application programmer interface (API) and TCP/IP socket interface programming, the development of a standard class library for Common User Interface (CUA '91) controls, and drag-and-drop and network interfacing. For programmers writing applications for OS/2 PM and TCP/IP.

Booknews

Having once abandoned OS/2 and eventually become reconverted, Gutz increasingly became aware of the lack of support for programmers in it, and even began getting requests for help from others. So, though claiming not be an expert expect in relation to most OS/2 programmers, he explains how to use the TCP/IP socket to connect to networks. Assumes a fair degree of experience in OS/2 programming, familiarity with C++ programming language, and at least a user's knowledge of TCP/IP. Includes a 3.5" disk with all the codes developed in the text. No bibliography. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
