School Library Journal

Gr 5-7-Two well-written overviews. Aftermath briefly explores the denazification of Germany, the contrasts in power between Britain and the U.S. after World War II, rebuilding western Europe, the Cold War, and postwar Japan. Since it is more specific in its focus than Technology, it should be useful for reports. Technology takes a general look at the development of radar, war materials, codes and computers, and the atomic bomb. Because there is so little information on any one topic, it is better suited for browsing than for research. The books are illustrated with clear black-and-white and a few full-color photographs. Average-quality supplemental purchases.-Rick Moesch, Hamburg Public Library, NY
