This book presents pathophysiology affecting bothadults and children, using a streamlined approach to address the keycontent regarding pathophysiology. The book was developed to offer asimplified, more elementary version of the authors' textPathophysiology: The Biologic Basis for Disease in Adultsand Children. The book is designed to highlight essentialpathophysiology content in a basic and easy-to-understandmanner. Although the authors only specify faculty and students, it ismy opinion that this book clearly targets baccalaureate undergraduatestudents. Of particular strength are the chapters in part 1 of thebook that help move the student into a more conceptual approach toaltered patterns in physiological function. In addition, the frequentuse of well-delineated diagrams facilitates a concise presentation ofmaterial. The Did You Knowsection at the end of each chapter cues the student to crucial pointsin the chapter. The content is written by individuals recognized asexperts in their areas.
