Overview

This volume compiles four dozen papers from a May 2002 symposium organized by the International Centre for Heat and Mass Transfer and the Visualization Society of Japan. Sideman (biochemical engineering, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa) introduces visualization and imaging as tools for enabling measurement of invisible phenomena in analyses of transport phenomena, i.e., the transfer of momentum, energy, and mass. Medical applications addressed include taking bioelectromagnetic measurements of the brain and heart. Engineering areas include measuring greenhouse gases and computer simulations of molecular dynamics. Discussions exclude physical description of the technologies involved. Includes color plates. Lacks a subject index. Annotation ©2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
