Possum Magic by Mem Fox is a warm, playful Australian classic with a lovely sense of wonder. The story follows Grandma Poss and Hush as they travel around Australia searching for the food that will make Hush visible again. Its charm comes from the simple magical idea, the affectionate relationship between the two possums, and the way it celebrates Australian animals, places, and foods.
Julie Vivasβs illustrations add a soft, whimsical feel that suits the story beautifully. It is especially good as a read-aloud book for young children, with enough humour and rhythm to keep them engaged. A sweet, memorable picture book that feels distinctly Australian.
