About the Author, Alaya Johnson

Alaya Johnson lives, writes, and cooks South Indian food in New York City. She graduated from Columbia University in 2004 with a BA in East Asian Languages and Cultures, and has lived and traveled extensively in Japan. Her debut novel, the young adult fantasy Racing the Dark, was praised by School Library Journal and Publishers Weekly. Her novella Shard of Glass was reprinted in the anthology The Year's Best Fantasy #6 and was singled out for good reviews by Publishers Weekly and Booklist. Her work has also appeared in The Year's Best Science Fiction #11 and The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror #18

Meg Gandy lives in Richmond, Virginia, with her new husband and small kitten. She is the author and illustrator of the webcomic First Kingdom and other projects on her website. The Goblin King is her first published book.
