Overview
This compendium was one of the first successes of Phaidon's "ten by ten" format, in which ten critics in a selected field choose ten up-and-coming figures in their line of work. In 10x10, the ten acclaimed curators present a kaleidoscopic view of the work of one hundred contemporary architects around the world. The book features over two hundred and fifty buildings and projects dating from 1990-2000, encompassing multimillion dollar schemes, small domestic projects, and even virtual technology.
The hardcover edition of 10x10 is a design classic, and it is now available as a low-priced paperback as well. Both editions feature over 1,500 color images, organized chronologically by architect's name. There are approximately four pages devoted to each architect. In addition, each curator has written an essay about the contemporary architecture scene, all of which are included here.
