Thomson, a longtime physicist who joined the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in 1951 and participated in five nuclear weapons tests in Nevada, is also a founder of the Los Alamos Committee on Arms Control and International Security, which supports the arms control process. He first wrote this comprehensive report<-->which provides an overview of Cold War nuclear arms buildup and of the principal negotiated arms control treaties as of 2000<-->to provide staff at the Los Alamos National Laboratory with summaries of existing treaties and proposed agreements, as well as information on verification procedures.
