Overview

The aim of this collection has been to bring together a variety of articles on criminal justice which deal with some of the most important stages of the criminal process. The readings are organised in chrono-logical sequence, moving from those primarily concerned with the construction of crime, through to pre-trial processes, trial and the articulation and execution of sentence. They are introduced by a substantial introductory essay which provides a theoretical framework within which the diverse practices encompassed within criminal justice may be located. The book is intended as a resource for students and teachers of criminal justice, criminal law, criminology and introductory courses on the legal system.
