This adaptation of Psalm 19:1-4 carries out the theme, "The heavens declare the glory of God." The three-dimensional cardboard cover introduces the topic with a foreground of a red-roofed house and a green tree, a second level of billowing clouds which frame the sunrise of the third level. This is "A Lift-the-Flap Book" with pages and flaps of thin cardboard. There are only four flaps. (Flaps are overlays which children can lift to see the picture beneath.) A four-lined, rhymed poem gives clues to the object behind the flap. Printed on the first flap is the question, "What am I?" The flap hides clouds in a blue sky. Other hidden objects are: the sun, the moon, and the stars. The muted-colored pictures show a boy, a girl, and a dog observing, playing, or sleeping. "A Word to Grown-ups" at the end states, "All things in the firmament have a purpose." Children will enjoy lifting the flaps and patting the cover of this book. 2005, Little Simon Inspirations/Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Division, and Ages 1 to 3.
