Overview

"NAVAL & MARITIME HISTORY: A BIBLIOGRAPHY made its first appearance in 1951 as a mimeographed supplement to Professor Robert G. Albion's courses at Harvard University. Thereafter it was his practice over the years to bring out supplements or to compile completely new editions at regular intervals. Upon the publication of the fourth edition in 1972 by the Munson Institute of American Maritime Studies at Mystic Seaport Museum, Professor Albion turned to new projects until his energies gradually waned with advancing age. After Albion's death in 1983 the present compiler determined to put together a new supplement. Although other duties have brought delays, the project is now finished. This supplement adds some 2,000 works published since mid-1971 to the more than 5,000 titles that comprise the fourth edition. Like its predecessor, the present volume includes only books and dissertations in English, arranged in the topical groups set up by Albion years ago."
