Overview

This straightforward, visual-driven book introduces readers to the many features of AutoCAD while developing a basic understanding of design. Its comprehensive coverage is divided into three partsβ€”an introduction to the fundamentals of AutoCAD Release 14 for Windows (Chapters 1-9); an explanation of many AutoCAD three-dimensional capabilities (Chapters 10-15); and a demonstration of how to apply these three-dimensional capabilities to design problems (Chapters 16-18). For practicing CAD designers and technicians as well as anyone interested in CAD, 3D design, and engineering.

Bethune (Boston University) introduces the fundamentals of AutoCAD using a tutorial approach, beginning with demonstrations of using the draw, object snap, modify, and dimensioning toolbars for 2D drawings. Three fairly long tutorials show how commands can be used together to create more complicated shapes. The fundamentals of 3D drawing are then covered in chapters on surface and solid modeling, rendering, viewpoints, and dimensioning. The final chapters show how to apply 3D capabilities to design problems. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
