ABC, the Wild West

PreS Up-- While billed as a book for children of all ages, considerable cultural literacy will be needed for any reader to understand the contents. Syntax and vocabulary are on at least an eighth-grade level, and most readers, young and old, won't be familiar with the objects. While the color reproductions are excellent, the book works best as an on-site sale to visitors to this museum. Four inches wide and fourteen inches long, ABC fits a card rack, but as with text and illustrations, it is not an all-purpose, every-reader publication. --George Gleason, Department of English, Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield
