Synopsis

The names of various familiar objects introduce the letters of the alphabet from A to Z.

Children's Literature

This alphabet board book starts off with an apple then a bottle and a clock. So far it is the type of things kids would see in their house. The football may be questionable and rubber duck for "r" and teddy bear for "t" just does not seem to fit the alphabetic scheme, except for being items from around the house. Most kids will say duck; perhaps many will say teddy bear. The washcloth looks more like a hand puppet than a washcloth so that is also questionable and the zebra is just acceptable. It is not the best example of a stuffed toy zebra that this reviewer has seen. The entire alphabet is laid out on the inside back cover and children can repeat the letters, or caregivers and parents could play a game to ask kids to point to the correct letter. A marginal purchase. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
