Gr 7-10-- Two titles in a series aimed at reluctant readers. Although British in origin, the presentations take an international scope, with heavy emphasis on both North American and British influences. Caring for the Aged discusses the physical and emotional impacts of the aging process, as well as its socioeconomic effects on society--past, present, and future. Retirement planning and housing, health care, euthanasia, loneliness, agism, and abuse are addressed in this broad yet thought-provoking overview. Abortion is approached from both a current and historical perspective. Medical information is presented, including methods of contraception; social and emotional considerations are explored and subjects of debate presented. Photographic entries avoid the emotionally charged and the sensational. This is a concise, nonextremist presentation with emphasis on both pros and cons and informed decision making. Both titles present case studies to illustrate topics; personal quotations are highlighted and liberally peppered throughout the text. Appended sections provide U. S. addresses for further contacts/information and brief bibliographies. Two clearly written, unbiased introductions to emotionally heated issues for beginning reports and/or discussions. --Celia A.
