Children's Literature

In today's busy world, time for grown ups and children to read together is more precious than diamonds. When the book is nonfiction—rare—affordable, and designed specifically for both the early reader and grown up to take turns reading aloud, you really have something! This book, part of the "We Both Read" series, is designed for parents (or adults) to read the more sophisticated left-hand pages and early readers to read the right-hand, simple-to-read pages. Color photo illustrations are beautiful and many of these include pictures of children, exploring the tide pools or holding a giant seashell, for example. Words that may be outside the child's vocabulary are in bold-faced type and introduced in the adult pages then later repeated on the children's side. While this is a good idea, having a glossary included in the book would have been helpful.
