Accumulation, Exchange, and Development focuses on the differentiated structures of production and exchange prevalent in a developing economy and the interrelation among the dynamics of accumulation. Combining certain basic principles of classical political economy with specific studies on the Indian economy, the author points to a theory that can be developed. In the first part, Bharadwaj delineates the contrasting structures of classical political economy and the now dominant neoclassical theory.
