The purpose of the June 1992 workshop was to investigate new techniques for the production of ultra-high gradient acceleration and to address critical physics and engineering issues relating to all aspects of modern accelerators, including high brightness sources, microwave sources, accelerator configurations, and instrumentation requirements, far field devices (e.g., IFEL), instrumentation and diagnostics, and physics opportunities with advanced accelerators. Among the specific titles: experimental gyroklystron research at the University of Maryland for application to TeV linear colliders; photoelectron beams from the UCLA RF gun; and a pulsed-power electron accelerator using laser-driven photoconductive switches.
