Synopsis
Conceived as a form of Festschrift for social psychologist Sheldon Stryker, this volume contains 13 chapters on identity theory. For each contribution, the editors (a student and three colleagues of Stryker's) asked the author to orient their work towards some aspect of Stryker's identity theory and extend, criticize, or rebut it. The papers are arranged in sections that broadly address sources of identity; identities and social structure; identities, emotion, and health; and multiple identities.
