Overview
The topics selected for inclusion in Volume 1 cover some of the rapidly evolving areas in structural biology. This includes an informative range of topics belonging to cell biology, neurobiology, developmental biology, immunobiology, and pathobiology. Although emphasis is placed on correlations between structure and function, some subjects have yet to attain the level of technical sophistication and understanding that would allow a truly balanced treatment of structural biology. Of necessity, therefore, some chapters deal more heavily with structure than with biochemistry, and vice versa. The choice of whether to write a review or an original report has been let to the contributors.The present volume continues the trend established in previous volumes in this series on Advances in Structural Biology. As in the past, diverse topics of current importance relevant to the theme of the series are included in the fourth volume.
