Gr 3-4-A biographical account of Libby Riddles, the first woman to win the Iditarod Trail Sleg Dog Race. Kramer uses vocabulary specific to dog-sled racing and includes a short glossary. She gives a brief history of the race, but assumes that readers already know about it and are interested in the sport. The writing is appropriate for the intended audience, although the narrative drags at points. Also, Riddles's thoughts as presented here clearly seem to be conjecture. The black-and-white illustrations and photographs are merely decorative.-Marcia S. Rettig, South Buffalo Elementary School, Freeport, PABook Details
