Focusing both on the gendered violence rampant during wartime and the abilities of women to use the disruption of wartime to attempt to change the everyday gendered violence of "peacetime," 14 contributions from a variety of fields explore the experience and activities of women in post-conflict societies. Introductory essays deal with issues of theory, exploring issues of gender, identity, the state, and reconciliation.
