School Library Journal

Gr 3-6-Other than the odd statement in the first book that Kaposi's sarcoma is usually a "harmless skin cancer," the author adequately discusses the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and research related to AIDS and autism. Both texts are well organized and succinct. The statistics are up-to-date and some of the illustrations are very useful (a map indicating the estimated number of cases of AIDS worldwide, a diagram showing the common traits of autism), but most are filler (close-ups of bags of blood and bottles of pills). Adequate overviews of both conditions, complete enough for this age level.-Christine A. Moesch, City of Tonawanda Public Library, NY Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
