Synopsis

Albert the dog just can’t stop himself from eating Sarah Jane’s favorite fish snacks. But what will happen when Sarah Jane finds out there are none left for breakfast? Will fish snacks come between a hungry hound and his feline friend?

Children's Literature

When it comes to cuddle time, Albert the dog and Sarah Jane the cat are the very best of friends. Mealtimes are an entirely different matter. Albert tries very hard, but he cannot help partaking of Sarah Jane's personal bowl of food. Just the teensiest nibble, right? The day Albert loses all control and inhales the lot, Sarah Jane reaches her limit. She moves out! Will Albert's loneliness make a new dog of him? Can their friendship be saved? Malachy Doyle's little cautionary tale has charm and humor, and Jo Parry's illustrations are perfectly in tune with it. Her Albert is a huge, furry lump of really dumb dog; her Sarah Jane sleekly clever. The title is part of the QEB "Storytime" series, designed for early readers. It concludes with notes for teachers and parents. A book that includes such terms as "yummy, scrummy crunchies" has to be an improvement over "See Jane go. Go, Jane, go!" Right? Absolutely.
