Gr 6 UpThis update of a standard overview of alcohol and teenage drinking sports a new look with different typefaces and new illustrations. Many of the posed, black-and-white photos feature teens, but the pictures are darkly reproduced and serve mainly to break up the text. The arrangement is mostly the same as in the earlier version, but the previous chapter entitled "Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism" has been divided and expanded into "Alcohol and Other Drugs" and "Is Alcoholism a Disease?" which reflects new knowledge and additional understanding. Sections of other chapters have been rewritten to include recent surveys and studies. The text is readable, logical, and a good choice for reports. The list of organizations includes phone numbers and Web site addresses. The further reading list has fewer novels, but includes magazine articles. There is enough new information here to consider this book for purchase, especially if your collection still has early 1980 copyrights.Martha Gordon, formerly at South Salem Library, NY
